ISA Reclassifications by Tim Coley on 05/06/2007
TENNESSEE - The following are ISA?s new team classifications for the remainder of 2007. We voted on every team and class and tried to get everything on a level playing field while opening up our E class for softball to grow. There will be teams that are not on the list because we didn?t have any paperwork on them, have not seen or heard of them yet, or just simply overlooked them. With this many teams statewide, it is impossible to think of everyone, especially if they have not played ISA this year. I will explain under each class the way we voted and our thoughts on each one. Just remember, we only moved teams up one class for now and some borderline teams in each class that did or did not get moved, can still be moved up or down as we feel needed. Thanks to everyone for supporting ISA and letting us try some things to make softball better.
C+
(Our goal was to separate what we thought were the elite teams in C class and just simply a level ahead of everyone else. This has cut the numbers of in state teams down to 10 or 12 for right now. There will be more added before states as we see how the C- teams compete against the C+. But until then, you guys will have the opportunity to actually play in some tournaments for a change without traveling across, or out of state every weekend. We are still going to separate the C in every tournament in which there are 8 or more in each and at states. We also voted on the run spot. It will be that when a C+ team faces a C- team during the tournament, the C+ will give up a 5 run spot in the first inning and everything else will be C class rules with all run rules in affect. )

C-
(Our goal for our new C- class was to leave the bottom tier C teams as of now, and move the top 80% to 90% of D class up. The number of quality teams in this class now should make for really strong and great tournaments. We took all the teams that we thought could compete on this level. Remember, if you are barely getting beat and going 0 and 2, you are competing. With all great teams in a tournament, someone has to go 0 and 2. We are still going to separate the C in every tournament in which there are 8 or more in each and at states. We also voted on the run spot. It will be that when a C+ team faces a C- team during the tournament, the C- will receive a 5 run spot in the first inning and everything else will be C class rules with all run rules in affect. )

D
(With all the upper D teams moved out, that let us bring all of our upper E teams up to D. The biggest plus, there will be no more offensive ejections. For the D teams remaining, some really good games are coming for you guys. I respect you for staying in D while the teams that we just moved where still here. You could have tried to drop to E like a lot of teams, but you stayed. No offense to the E teams coming up because I understand that as well. You want to play D but know that you just can not compete on a regular basis with the teams that we moved. Should be some really evenly matched games now and especially at state time.)

E
(These are the teams that will make up our new E class now. This will be a chance for you guys to play and grow as teams and move up when you think you?re ready. Or if you just want to go out and have fun on the weekends without being so competitive, here you go. I feel like every team left in here wants to compete. As new teams start to come in now and play just for fun, I feel like all these teams will be able to step up to the next level. This will make for more tournament teams in which makes all of our classes bigger and better. With our new E class, we will not offer the huge prize packages any more. This will keep teams from wanting to drop down. But any time an E team wants to step up and try to play D without the penalty of having to play D from then on, you can do that. I encourage you to try and compete on the next level time to time to see how you can compete. Just call myself or the tournament director and talk to him about what you want to do. )
